Show PLAN READJUSTMENT OF TEACHERS' PAY SALT LAKE. Feb. 21. Efforts to readjust salaries for teachers' in Utah and thereby avoid a virtual walkout at tho end of the present school year are being made by leading educators of the state. They aro urging members mem-bers of the various Utah school boards to do everything in their power to increase in-crease the teacher's salaries in order to avoid such a condition. The boards aro handicapped because tho tax levy limitations prevent them from making any material increase in their revenues. One-third of tho teachers teach-ers in Carbon county resigned recently recent-ly because they are dissatisfied with the salaries paid them, but they have heen induced to remain through the term. Information received by the state department of education is to the effect ef-fect that a quiet agitation for tho formation for-mation of a "teachers' unioh," with the idea of ultimately calling a strike, is being carried on, and It is this movement move-ment which tho educational department depart-ment authorities are seeking to check. oo |
