Boyle, through negotiations brought to a close yesterday, hns obtained a controlling con-trolling interest In the Peory-Knisely Hardware company and will assume tho management of the business within with-in the next few days. Mr. Boyle haB been an employee of the company since it purchased the hardware business busi-ness from his father several, years ago. The changes In the management presages the erection of a large store building by the Peory estate on the property adjoining the office of the Standard on Twenty-fourth street. This building will have a frontage of 50 feet on Twenty-fourth street and 115 feet on Hudson avenue and will contain eight store rooms when completed. com-pleted. Threo of tho stores will have fronts on Twenty-fourth street ana fivo on Hudson avenue. The largest one on Twenty-fourth street will be occupied by tho Peery-Knisely Hardware Hard-ware store, the stock of which will bo moved from its present quarters on Washington avenue as soon as the now building is completed. According to the plans, which are now being drawn by L. S. Hodgson, tho new building will be of brick and concrete fire-proof construction and, for the time being, one Btory high. Ii will be constructed, however, that five or six Btories may be added when business conditions call Tor additional space. In architectural design, according to a statement made by Louis Peory this morning, it will be different from any store building in the city, and will be strictly modern throughout. The work of tearing down the present pres-ent structure on Twenty-fourth street will begin early next inorh and, as speedily as the weather will permit, tho new building will bo erected. It is expected that It will be ready for occupation by April 1st, this being tho aim of thP Pecry estate, as the present pres-ent location of the Peery-KJiiKely hardwrfre store has been leased to the Orpheum Candy company, the lease going Into effect on that date. |
