Show STUDENT ARMY CAMPS COMMENDED Washington, D. C. Jnn. 29. The work of the student army camps undertaken un-dertaken last summer at Gettysburg, Pa-, and near Monterey, Cal., to be conducted on a larger scale this sea-sob, sea-sob, Is commended in a statement from nine university and college presidents pres-idents made public at the war department depart-ment today. "The military Instruction," says the statement, "was thorough, the discipline discip-line was strict, but the work was so well arranged that It caused enjoyment enjoy-ment rather than hardship. The food, sanitation and medical care wore good and the lessons received re-ceived by the students In these matters mat-ters were scarcely less valuable than the military Instruction itself. We commend these camps to the atten- i lion of collego authorities aa a most Important adjunct to the educational education-al system of the United States, furnishing fur-nishing the student a healthful and profitable summer course at moderate expense." The statement is signed by Presidents Presi-dents Hlbben, Princeton; Lowell, Harvard; Har-vard; Hadley, Yale; Finley, College of the City of New York; Hutchins, Michigan, and Wheeler, California. oo |
