Show REBELS EXPECT TO WIN VICTORY Destruction by Independent Bands to End When Huerta is Subdued. . Juarez, Mex., Jan. 29. How long the killing and looting by Independent Independ-ent bands, destruction of property and prostration of business will con-tinuo con-tinuo in Mexico, General Francisco Villa, the rebel leader, today, said would depend on the resisting power of Huerta and Huerta's supportors. "Do you see any prospects for permanent per-manent peaco in Mexico?" General Villa was asked when his attention was called to Zapata and other rebel lenders who are reported to be carrying car-rying on revolutionary movements of their own. "There is only ono .revolutionary movement," replied General Villa. "We are permitting the so-called Independent In-dependent bands to 'fight because they are helping our cause. Anything Any-thing which embarrasses the Usurper Usurp-er Huerta1 helps us. But when once we triumph there will be no excuse for any more fighting. All factions will be conciliated. If any bandits remain re-main we will quickly exterminate them. This revolution is so broad, I do not look for any opposition to the government of which General Carranza will probably be the head. No one hopes for permanent peace more than the rebels do." General Villa made no comment on advices from Washington that tho administration was considering tho lifting of the embargo against the shipment of arms to tho rebels except ex-cept to say that his army was now well supplied with arms and ammunition ammuni-tion captured from the federals. |
