The group's itenerary and lodging and other necessary arrangements were made by Mrs. Yuk Jun Joseph. Much of the activity was a cooperative effort with committees com-mittees effeciently handling food prepared to be eaten enroute; Faster baskets for each member; mem-ber; and Faster services. Mrs. Silas Topham directed appropriate singing throughout the trip and at the Faster Service. Ser-vice. Richard Benson presented the Faster Sermon on Sunday. Mrs. Charles Bentley; Miss Mamie Fck; Mrs. Fula Gardner; Mrs. Thelda Hyatt and others were contributors to a successful trip. The first thrill of the journey came when mechanical difficulty stopped the bus as it was midway between Panaca and Caliente. However, Richard Grainger the driver, had a replacement bus borrowed from Lincoln County Schools in very short order to convey the group to Caliente where the school officials allowed the tour group to await another bus. The tour proceeded from Caliente to Tonopah which was home-base for the tour. Highlights of the excursion were tours through Scotty's Castle and a visit to the lowest point in North America at Bad Water which is 278.8 feet below sea level. Other points of interest were the old Borax works, Stove Pipe Wells, Furnace Creek and the bottle house near Beatty. The return trip was made via Las Vegas, Nev. The trip included in-cluded a happy 1050 miles with no misadventure to sepak of and with new friendships established and old ones renewed. |
