Show Nurseries join in state-wide promotion for tree planting "A million trees for a million people" is the theme of a Bicentennial project recently launched by the Utah Institute of Fine Arts. Governor Calvin L. Hampton has challenged Utah's roughly one million citizens to plant one tree each in 197G. Local nurseries have joined in the statewide effort by offering discounts to those purchasing trees with special discount coupons. Harrison House Nursery, Nur-sery, 125 North Main, Cedar City, is giving a 15 percent discount on each tree. A 10 percent discount is being given by Zion Sun Floral, 48 Fast 200 South, Cedar City. Discount coupons are available in the SUSC Student Center from Virginia Higbee, Volunteer Coordinator or by calling 580-44 11 est. 3:i!i. The Governor said that on a trip to China he noted that much of the climate was similar to Utahs. The Chinese have planted billions of trees since World War II. Ron Molen, project chairman, recommended that the planting be used to beautify water tanks and other eyesores. "Let's not get used to ugliness," he said. |
