On Friday, April 4, Mr. Veon Smith, Jr. of Salt Lake City visited the school, leading the second seminar, entitled "Effective "Ef-fective Communication as a Key to Successful Family and Marriage Relationships." Mr. Smith has a broad background in social work, serving as a marriage and family counselor in private practice and at the University of Utah Family Counseling Bureau. He has also taught at Hrigham Young University and currently serves as a board member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Counselors. Coun-selors. The third in the series of lecture-seminars will be conducted by Mrs. Delia Farrow, Iron County Public Health Nurse under the auspices of the Five-County Five-County Health Organization, and will focus on preparation for family life-including financial and psychological preparation for parenthixid and prenatal care. This section of the course w ill begin April 14. DR. JOHN W . WILSON Dr. John Wilson lectures at Parowan High I'AKOWAN -Eleventh and 12th grade American Studies students at PUS are currently engaged in an extensive study of the American Family in society. Visiting experts are conducting seminars in special fields during the four week course. The first lecture seminar was conducted by Dr. John W. Wilson of Long Beach, California. Professor Wilson teaches psychology at Golden West College, Huntington Park, California,, specializing in the psychology of childhood and child development. This was the focus of his lecture and the |
