President Carter's announcement an-nouncement was issued on the heels of action by the U.S. House of Representatives Represen-tatives rejecting an amendment Tuesday that would have stopped production of the B-l bomber. Senator Orrin G. Hatch last week blasted President Jimmy Carter's decision to discontinue funding of the B-1 B-1 bomber. "President Carter's actions ac-tions demonstrate his naivete of the defense needs of this country and the need to maintain our role as a world power," Senator Hatch said. He added, "I am disappointed disap-pointed that the President has allowed campaign rhetoric in opposition to the B-l bomber to shade his view of what is in the best interest of this nation and its security."
