Show Election held for Coordinating Council , ( .-Y ! ' The Cedar City Coordinating Council is presently conducting an election for the Coordinating Council Central Committee. Richard Whitney, chairman, said ballots are being distributed by mail to "community leaders." Any interested individual who does not receive a ballot may participate in the election by contacting the Community Education office at 586-9515 or by calling at the Iron County School Board Office in person. Candidates for the central committee are: Alene Chamberlain, Janine Jolley Max Bonzo, Michael Leavitt, Lynn Nielsen and Brad Schmutz. Three will be elected to serve a three year term each. Alene Chamberlain is a native of Iron County. She was raised in Enoch and has resided in Cedar City since 1952. She attended College of Southern Utah (SUSC for two years. LYNN NIELSON ALENE CHAMBERLAIN '' I" 'J It - " i . '""VN: i BRAD SCHMUTZ MAX BONZO Her husband is Royce Chamberlain, a local insurance agent. They are the parents of six children and they have two grandchildren. Mrs. Chamberlain is very active in civic and church affairs. She has served as President of the East Elementary PTA, Vice President of the Cedar City PTA Council, President of the Piano Teachers' Association and served on the Music Arts Committee, Youth Council, Beautification Committee Com-mittee and 4-H Council. She has been a 4-H leader for 20 years, an extension aid for the Iron County Extension Service for five years and also spent two years as a SNAP worker with the Senior Citizens. In her church activities she has served as President of the YWMIA, a Relief Society Counselor and a Blazer Scout Leader. Janine Bauer Jolley was born in Cedar City, and is the daughter of LaVand and Virginia Bauer. She graduated from Cedar City High School in 1956 with honors and attended CSU on scholarship from which she graduated in 1958 with a two year degree in business and in 1960 with a B.S. in Elementary Education. She was valedictorian both times. She is the wife of Evan W. Jolley and they are owners of Jolley's Ranch Wear, Inc. She is the mother of six children, has taught school for three years and substituted in the Iron County Schools. She is active in music and teaches piano to over 20 students. Active in the LDS Church, Mrs. Jolley has been MIA president and served in two Relief Society Presidencies. She is at present In-service In-service Leader in the 6th Ward Sunday School, organist for Singing Mothers and Visiting Teacher. She has been PTA president of the North Elementary Elemen-tary School and at present is Education CommissiQnerior the Iron County PTA Council. ; Mrs. Jolley is working on a B.S .-Degree in -Business Education. Max Bonzo was born and raised in Cedar City. He graduated from Cedar High School, attended CSU and graduated from the Weltech School of Electronics. He is a veteran of the Korean War and is presently Command Sergeant Major in the Utah National Guard where he has served for 28 years. He and his wife, Susan, have four children. Bonzo is a member of the Rotary Club, SUSC Quarterback Club, Chamber of Commerce and the Professional Photographers of America. He is the owner of Max's Portraits. He is active in the LDS Church and recently served in the Cedar Tenth Ward Bishopric as first counselor. Lynn (Lindy) Nielsen graduated from BAC where he played on the Varsity Basketball, baseball and i football teams. He also graduated from Utah State University in Education JANINE JOLLEY where he also played on the basketball and baseball teams. He coached and taught for two years at Bryce Valley High School. Nielsen obtained a master's degree at the University of Utah and later taught in the Granite School District where he initiated the speech and hearing program. He taught eleven years in the state of Washington setting up special education programs. He is currently completing his fifth year as a speech and hearing pathologist in .the Iron County School District. He is past president of the American Little League, past president of the Southern Utah State Quarterback Club and served as a member of the SUSC Alumni Council and is presently serving as a Board Member of the Senior Little League. He is presently a member of the High Council of the Cedar City, Utah College Stake. He is married to Maridon Smith Nielsen of Cedar City and the father of --four children. Michael O. Leavitt is a life long resident of Cedar City. He attended the Cedar City Schools and Southern Utah State. He and his wife, Jacelyn, have one son. He is employed by the Leavitt Insurance In-surance Agency Group. Leavitt is president of the Exchange Club and a member of the Board of Directors of the Casualty Indemnity Exchange Insurance Company. Leavitt is an active member of the LDS Church. Brad Schmutz was born in Cedar City, son of Eldon W. and Luree Sargent Schmutz. He graduated from Cedar City High School, served an LDS mission to Arizona, and just received a B.S. degree in business administration from SUSC. Presently he is working as a real estate salesman for Century 21 Corry Realty. Mr. Schmutrz is married to the former Gayla Rae Bullock and they have a one-year old son, Cade.
