Show Parovvan LL Season Ends; Reds Winners The final week of the Little League Baseball season has drawn to a close in Parowan.All team members have played in each game. The sportsmanship of each player is to be commended. On June 28, the Cubs and the Mets went against each other with the final score being Cubs 20 Mets 9. Pitchers Pit-chers for the Cubs were Brady Smith, Misty Bentley and Neil Orton. Misty Bentley was injured when she was hit in the mouth by a thrown ball as she was trying to make an out at home plate. She had to leave the game for a while and was replaced by Neil Orton. Misty recovered enough to come back into the game and finish pitching. Doug Rogerson led off the batting and hit three doubles, scored three times, and had three RBI's. Neil Orton got two singles and scored three times. Mike Rogerson scored once. Travis Griffiths got a single and a triple, scored three times and had four RBI's. Misty Bentley hit one single.got one RBI, and scored three times. Brady Smith got a double, two singles, scored once and got two RBI's. Scott Stubbs scored once, as did Brad Neil, Preston Griffiths, and Bill Riggs. Brad Benson got one RBI. Matt LeFevre scored once and got one RBI, and Dan Wood scored once and got two RBI's. Brothers Kelly and Tony Orton did the pitching for the Mets. Darren Jones led off the batting order and during the game scored once and had one RBI. Amber Johnson was hit by a pitch and had to leave the game. Kirk Green came in to replace her and scored once. Kelly Orton got a double, scored once, and got two RBI's. Russel Condie scored twice. Darren Benson got two singles, scored once and had one RBl. Tony Rassmussen scored once. Blake Bentley and Mark Robinson each scored once and had one RBI. A highlight of the game was a double play made by the Cubs pitcher, Brady Smith, in the first inning. On June 29, the Reds went against the Braves. The final score was in favor of the Reds 16-4. Danny Evans did the pitching for the Reds while Shawn Robb led off the battin order. During the game Shawn got a triple, scored once and Had one RBI. Dan Evans got one double, scored three times, and got two RBI's. Robbie Stevens got one single, scored three times and got two RBI's. Kevin Whicker got a single, scored once, and had one RBI. David Green got One RBI, and his brother Damon hit a single and scored twice. Curt Whicker, Alisa Robb, and Bill Baucom each scored once. Pitching for the Braves were Alan Burton and Laynne Dalton. Alan Burton got a triple, a single and three RBI's. Dan Robinson scored twice, while Mike Robinson got two singles, scored once, and had one RBI. Sharissa Thornton scored once. The Braves are a fine team, but just couldn't seem to get it together. On July 1, the Braves went against the Cubs, and again had difficulty getting things to click, losing 20-6. Pitchers for the Braves were Mike and Dan Robinson and Laynne Dalton. Kristen Allen led off the batting order and scored once. Dan Robinson scored twice and Mike Robinson was credited with one RBI. Debbie Allen go got a triple and two RBI's. Renato Matheson and Cleon Lawrence each scored once, and Sharissa Thornton scored once and had two RBI's. Cubs pitchers were Misty Bentley and Travis Griffiths. Grif-fiths. Doug Rogerson led off the batting order with a single, two doubles, three scored runs, and three RBI's. Brady Smith got a single scored twice, and had three RBI's. Misty Bentley brought in four RBI's, including in-cluding herself when she hit a grand slam home run. Mike Rogerson got a double and two RBI's. Scott Stubbs scored once. Tyler Freeborn got a single and scored once. Dan Wood got a single, scored once and got one RBI. The last game of the Little League season was forfeited by the Mets, making the Reds automatic winners. The Mets did not have enough team members to play an official game, but some Reds joined the Mets and a game was played to allow some of the younger team members more opportunity op-portunity to practice their skills. Pitching for the Reds were Damon Green, Robbie Stevens, Matt Morton, and Shawn Robb. Shawn Robb got one triple, scored twice, and had two RBI's. Danny Evans hit a double, a single, scored three times Danny Evans hit a double, a single, and scored twice. Alisa Robb scored once. Robbie Stevens got a single, and scored three times, and got one RBI. Chris Robb hit two doubles and scored twice. Kevin Whicker scored once, and hit one single. Damon Green hit a double, while brother David got a single. Matt Morton scored once and Brett Morton scored once. Pitching for the Mets were Kelly Orton, Blake Bentley, and Darren Jones. Leadin off, Darren Jones got one RBI, and scored once. Russell Condie got two RBI's. Amber Johnson scored once and got one RBI. Darren Talbot hit a single and scored once. Blake Bentley scored twice. Kirk Green got a triple, a single, scored once, and had one RBI. Donated Reds players included Alisa Robb with one RBI, Scott Farrow with one run. and Phil Blake. This winds up the Little League season in Parowan. We would like to give a BIG THANKS to all of the people who have given of their time and helped in any way to make this season a success. Concessions were handled by Diane Sandberg who really did a great job. And, a special thanks to all of the ball player's mothers who donated their baked goodies to be sold at the games. Umpires were Jim Broadwell, Curtis Mitchell, Danny Stones, Dan Harris, andespecially-Robbie Topham who has been behind home plate almost every game. Once again, a big thanks to everyone. |
