Show , Did you inow That sometimes ability, entirely without ambition, is ' pushed to the loftiest heights by public pressure! 50 years ago-Taking ago-Taking advantage of the excursion rates on the UP ' RR train to Salt Lake City were quite a number of people from Cedar. Among those on the train were: Mr. and Mrs. Angus Rosenberg, Mr. and Mrs. Moroni ; Perry, Miss Minnie Perry, San Bell, Mrs. Rachel ; Bauer, Mrs. George Nelson, Mrs. Dave Dix, Mrs. Maude Corry, Mrs. Rose Gardner, Mr. and Mrs. S. J. Foster, Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Foster and sons and Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Jones and sons. 25 years ago Professor and Mrs. Twain Tippets, Professor and Mrs. Theron Ashcroft, Mr. and Mrs. Hazen Cooley went on an extended trip to the mid-west. The group attended the National Education Association in Detroit, then visited a number of mid-western states and Canada, returning to Chicago for the Democratic National Convention. Prof. Tippets then attended the presidential nominating convention as an official delegate from the State of Utah, having been elected to that position at the recent state democratic convention in Salt Lake City. 10 years ago-Groundbreaking ago-Groundbreaking was held for the new Parowan High School. Carter Bros, of Cedar City was low bidder on the construction of the new high school. The contract was approved at the meeting of the board, ground- breaking ceremonies were conducted and construction I on the way. Completion date was tentatively set for 1 August 1968 so the building could be used for the '68-69 I school year. Glen Halterman gave a welcome speech I at the groundbreaking ceremony. He was the president 1 of the Iron County School Board. Remarks were made I by Ralph Orton, Harold Mitchell, John Rowley and I Calvin Carter. Prayer at the ceremony was by F. C. I VanBuren.
