Show Dixie captures Senior LL Title four runs on just one hit to take a commanding and insurmoutable 15-2 lead. In the bottom of the fifth Cedar pushed in two runs. Alger lived on a fielders choice and came on to score on a single by Webb. Webb scored on a single by Corry. In the sixth frame Cedar had four runs on one hit, a double by David Carter. The mound victory went to Doug Alldredge, the starter, although Dixie did bring in Troy Jolley in relief. For Cedar Kurt Nielson went the distance. Dixie had 18 runs on 13 hits including two doubles and two triples. Triples were belted by Jamie Esplin and Russ Nielson. Esplin also had a double as did Fullmer. Dixie Senior Little Leaguers walked off with the District I tournament championship Thursday with a convincing 18-8 victory vic-tory over Cedar City. Dixie crew will now advance ad-vance to the section tournament tour-nament and travel to northern nor-thern Utah to meet Clearfield Clear-field for the Utah Title. Clearfield won the Region II title. The Dixie team had a rather easy tournament in the four-team event which opened last Tuesday evening. Dixie downed Parowan 22 to 4 in the tournament opener and Cedar City defeated Piute by a score of 30-1. In Wednesdays action Piute broke away from a 6-6 deadlock at the end of six innings of play to eliminate Parowan from further tournament competition 13-8. 13-8. In that battle Piute picked up seven runs on just two hits in the top of the seventh to break the deadlock then held on in the bottom of the frame allowing only two runs to Parowan. Parowan in a losing effort had seven hits including doubles by Roger Bentley and Pat Benson. , Dixie's second win In the championship action ac-tion Wednesday night Dixie handed Cedar City their first loss by a score of 12-3. Craig Seegmiller of Dixie picked up the mound win going the distance and allowing only two hits to the Cedar City crew. Dixie scored their 12 runs off 14 hits including four doubles, two of them by Tim Fullmer. Dixie pushed in three runs on four hits in the first inning of play and were never challenged by the Cedar City crew. Cedar got their first run in the third when Gary Alger walked, stole second and scored on a passed ball. They had two runs on one hit in the fifth but the visitors from the south added two in the fifth and three in the sixth to dominate the action. Thursday's Action Piute and Cedar were thrown together again for Thursday's first game and the Cedar Crew again came through with plenty of scoring defeating Piute by a score of 27-7. The big blow in the contest was a grandslam home run in the fourth frame by Kevin Webb. Cedar had 10 runs on six hits in the first innings and coasted to the victory. Dean Miller and Kary Larson shared mound duty for the victory. The win over Pite gave the Cedar crew a chance to meet Dixie again in the championship cham-pionship bracket of the double elimination tournament. tour-nament.
