That no citizen is so powerful, none so humble, that the city in which he lives is not an aid to him in some way ! 50 years ago The Pioneers were honored on July 25th for Pioneers Day. There were musical numbers and talks given in the Tabernacle at 10:30 a.m. In the afternoon there was a circus and refreshments for the old pioneers, who really were thrilled with the circus. Mr. Cooke, manager of the circus, gave the pioneers first class tickets, without cost to the committee. 25 years ago The chimney and roof of the Paragonah schoolhouse was damaged by lightning, according to Ianthus Wright, Superintendent of Iron County Schools. Investigation In-vestigation revealed that lightning had hit the chimney and falling bricks and concrete had crashed onto the if roof, with force enough to break the sheeting on the roof and tear a hole in the roof covering but not through the structure. No one was injured, and repairs were , made immediately. 10 years ago i Cedar 8th Ward walked off with the first place ' honors for their float, in the Pioneer Day parade July 24. Other winning entries, were Gronway Parry's Stagecoach and Cedar 7th Ward float. The day included in-cluded concessions, and presentation of the pageant "I I Am A Pioneer" by Cedar West Stake Seventies. By Dorothy Rogers |
