Show Parowan ponders Brian Head sewer and stated that the Chamber of Commerce is in the process of being reorganized. They are trying to make a business organization out of it. They will have elections in September. Sep-tember. The Chamber would like to have both interchanges in-terchanges lighted, and light the rest of the way into town. He reported they did get the north sign up and lettered, it is on the corner of the Roy Adams property. Mayor Gurr did check with Alex Mansour and it will cost $10.51 per light. Adams said he feels lights are a good advertising source. A motion was made that the city consider helping with the lights. Mr. Frank Adams approached ap-proached the city four weeks ago concerning 300 North to 100 East as an improvement district. He has contacted the people in that area and they agree to improve the area. There are six people involved. If they all want curb and gutter and all are willing to sign an agreeemment with the city that they will pay the amount that it will cost to do it. The property owners would have to give a lien on their property. The city will pay for it and the people can pay the city over a period of time. Howard Ward was in concerning the agreement with Parowan City purchasing pur-chasing his property south of the swimming pool and Lions Club pavillion. Mayor Kendall Gurr reported the State Aeronautics Board has voted to give Parowan City money for a taxiway parallel to the other strip. Money for this project and the airport road have been provided by the State Aeronautics Board. Councilman Gayle Stolk said the city has applied for a grant for the swimming pool. $55,000 would be matching end on it. Attorney Isom said it would be best to go through some bonding house for the money. Mr. John C. Pendleton wrote a memo to the Mayor and city council stating his resignation as chairman of the Planning and .Zoning Committee. He would like it to be made effective immediately. im-mediately. - Dr. "Morris Shirts representing the Boy Scouts of America came by request of Fred Day to update Parowan City on the Thunderidge Scout Camp. He stated that the water and sewer lines are not run yet. At the present they are planning on putting in holding tanks around the camp sites and trucking them down to the disposals in Parowan. They are working out a system so the showers are seperate from the sewer lines. The water right they have is on Benson Creek. They have made application to take it out of Yellow Jacket. He stated Hal Mitchell said he would protest it if it comes up. Mayor Kendall Gurr said we would like to help this development rather than be the hinderance. Shirts stated they were interested in working cooperatively with all people concerned. Brian Head City Council attended to discuss their sewage and water problems. Mayor Rex Emenegger stated that the sewer problem of the developers at Brian Head has been covered up but they do have holding tanks which overflow, over-flow, sewage disposal trucks which overflow and leach problems and would like them corrected as soon as possible. Mayor Rex Emenegger said the state department of health feels they are meeting their problems. Mayor Emenegger stated they would like to help everybody whether they are in the city limits or not. Brian Head asked that Parowan City write a letter of protest to the Health Department and say exactly what the problem is, giving a history of what has been done about the problem. It was also suggested that the council write letters to the county commissioners. They feel that the only way to solve the problem is to work together. Mr. Wayne Iverson, Brian Head Town Manager, stated they would like to drill a 2-300 2-300 ft. well and hook up to the existing system. They are trying to work out arrangements with the Parowan Reservoir Company; Com-pany; they would like to change the point of diversion. diver-sion. He stated their demand for water is in the winter. They want to pump the well only in the winter. They feel they will run out of water this winter. Mayor Emenegger said they do not need anymore building right now, and are not permitting it as they would like to supply what they presently have. Frank Adams attended |
