Show f ft " Letters YrftthS To The 4 m Editor Open Letter; The purpose of the Cedar City Electric Utility Board is to determine the best possible course for the citizens of this community to follow in regards to their future power needs. The Board is pleased that the City Council will accept their recommendation to conduct an opinion poll to determine if the citizens would be willing to pay for a feasibility study. Such a study would provide accurate ac-curate data concerning long term costs, the availability of power now and in the future, the cost of distribution lines, the costs of the operation of a municipal power system, the sources of revenue, customer's rate charges, and interest rates, etc. We have already determined deter-mined through our attorney that the franchise the city has given California Pacific can be broken. Also, through the advice and direction of the Public Service Commission the block of power from Utah Power and Light that Cedar City is now using will be available to Cedar City residents, whether serviced by a private or municipal system. The power that is available to Cedar City as a customer has been built into the Utah Power and Light system, even to the accommodation ac-commodation for the future growth of Cedar City. It has been stated by a representative of ICPA and Public Service Commission officials that power will be available to Cedar City through either a private or municipal system. It is in the best interests of all the people of Ceda r (Ctty to educate themselves about our power study and to participate honestly in the 1 opinion poll. It is vital to their interests and to the , .interests of their children and to the future of their community. Cedar City Electric Utility Board Louie Tong, Chairman.
