She has appeared in many roles, but perhaps I 1 is best known for her portrayal of Laurie, Ron Howard's J frf girl friend, in the hit film, 'American Graffiti.' & I Cindy was born in Van Nuys, California, but at an i )j early age she moved with her parents to Irving, Texas. 4 Nine years later, Cindy and family returned to live in Van Nuys. J While attending Birmingham High School, Cindy ? & starred in many of the school's plays. Upon & I graduation, she enrolled in Los Angeles City College, I 1 majoring in theatre arts. J & After college, Cindy appeared in minor TV roles, I but gradually her talent enabled her to land more im- i J portant parts in feature films and TV. Her breakthrough ? came when she was chosen to play the role of Tooley 4 f in George Cukor's film, 'Travels With My Aunt,' f i starring Maggie Smith. Then she was cast in Francis 3 & Ford Coppola's 'American Graffiti," followed by 'The Conversation,' also directed by Coppola. J Cindy also has appeared in the feature films, 3 & 'Gas,' 'Beware the Blob' and 'Drive, He Said,' directed by Jack Nicholson. e I Cindy's TV credits Include roles in 'Room 222,' J & 'Cannon,' 'Hawaii Five-0,' 'Police Story,' 'Petrocelli' & and 'Happy Days.' f J Cindy has an older half-brother, Jim, and a J & younger sister, Carol, who is an aspiring actress. Her mother, Frances, still lives in Van Nuys in the family i j home with a collection of dogs and cats, most of which J Cindy has picked up as strays and brought home to & i mama. f J Cindy is single and lives in Beverly Hills. Her j & hobbies include Egyptology, fencing, playing card f games and collecting animals. i |
