Show Roadless Area Workshop The Forest Service is, as part of a national program, launching a series of Roadless Area Review Workshops aimed at getting public help in completing an inventory of roadless areas in the National Forest System. In Cedar City the workshop is scheduled for August 9, at 7 -10 p.m. at the Town & Country Restaurant. The workshops will provide an opportunity for the public to suggest criteria to be used by the Forest Service in evaluating areas for inclusion in the National Wilderness Preservation system. In addition to helping develop evaluation criteria, the public is being asked to suggest additions or deletions to the Service's roadless and undeveloped inventory which was initially compiled in 1973. The refinement and expansion ex-pansion of the earlier study is being undertaken to expedite ex-pedite land management planning and to identify all areas to be considered for wilderness purposes. The public will have until September 15 to submit additional data and comments com-ments to local Forest Service Ser-vice offices. Additional information is available at the Forest Sueprvisor's Office in Cedar City. |
