Two performances, along with local talent, are planned. County Fair feafures Variety Show first show. "We invite everyone to come enjoy the exhibits and the variety show," Art Walunas, fair board chairman, said. "Both of these features of the Iron County Fair have been very successful in the past, and they promise to be very well received again in 1977," Walunas said. A special musical variety show put together by the Weber State College Program Bureau will be presented twice as a Sunday feature of the 1977 Iron County Fair. The programs will both be presented Sunday, September Sep-tember 4, in the auditorium of the Parowan High School. The first presentation will begin at 7 p.m. and the second show will begin shortly after the conclusion of the first presentation-about8:30p.m., presentation-about8:30p.m., according to Milo Stones, coordinator for the shows. "In keeping with the past tradition of providing good family entertainment, we have attempted to locate a talent show which will appeal ap-peal to all ages," Stones said. There will be no charge for the shows. A feature of the two Sunday night presentations will be numbers sung by the 20-member Weber State Singers, who performed under the direction of Lyneer C. Smith. The Ogden-based singing group includes nine women's voices and 11 men's voices. They perform many different dif-ferent types of numbers, ranging from popular to classical to opera. A sampling of their repertoire includes selections selec-tions from West Side Story, "Caro Nome" from Verdi's Rigoletto, the recently popular "Send in the Clowns," "Danny Boy," and Rodgers and Hammerstein's "It's a Grand Night for Singing." "From programs printed for past performances, it's easy to see why this group is so appealing. They sing a very wide range of types of music," Stones indicated. The program will also feature other musical and variety numbers which should appeal to nearly everyone, according to Stones. Fair exhibits in the nearby Parowan High School gymnasium will be open prior to both performances and also for a short time after the conclusion of the |
