Show Kk M' J t v TOP ENTRIES. The top three entries in the Parowan Pioneer Day Parade include, left David and Erin Shirts, third place; center, Jennifer and Hillary Smith, first place and right, Sharissa Thornton and Brandon Thornton, second place winners. Parade Winners Announced PAKOWAN - Parowan children went all out for the pioneer parade July 25th as over 60 participated in the event. Grand prize winners were Brandt and Lance Stubbs, sons of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Stubbs with a "Rub a Dub Dub In a No. 3 Tub" entry depicting pioneer plumbing facilities. First place winners were Jennifer and Hillary Smith, daughters of Ronald and Cherie Smith with a float depicting pioneer laundry methods. Sharissa Thornton and Brandon Thornton placed second with Sharissa wearing a beautiful Indian headdress made for her by her uncle Roger Batt. Third prize went to David and Erin Shirts, son and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Shirts. Ribbons were awarded to the winners and each participant in the parade was given an all day sucker. After the parade and a delicious dime a dip dinner the children and their parents and friends joined with other townspeople for games in the park. Baseball toss, fish pond, dart throw, pennie toss, and the traditional dunking machine were some of the games. Balloons, cotttoncandy, root beer and other goodies were available for everyone's enjoyment and the children were given rides on the fire engine. Also pony rides courtesy of Mel Eyre. A pioneer program was also presented during the day by the First, Second Ward Primaries and a good time was had by all. |
