Schumate exchanged wedding wed-ding vows June 10 at 6 p.m. in the SUSC Family Living Center. Reverend Grayson Govvan officiated at the double dou-ble ring ceremony. Mrs. Mark Webster furnished furnish-ed the music for the ceremony. Parents of the young couple are Mr. and Mrs. Robert C. Nelson, Port Hardy, British Columbia, Canada and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Shumate, Portland Port-land Oregon. Following the ceremony, the newlyweds greeted guests at a reception Which was also held in the Family Living Center. The bride was "beautiful" In, a modified empire gown of 1 white chiffon and Alencon lace over satin. Matching lace also covered the crown holding hold-ing the mid-length veil which blended into the elegant train. She carried a bouquet of pink peonies, baby breath and white rosebuds. Miss Marchia Woodbury vvas maid df honor and the bridesmaids brides-maids were Mrs. David Scholl (Betsy Hart), and Misses Jane Redd, Nellie Gal Hart and Val-erie Val-erie Hart. The attendants wore floor-length fuschia and whiie print dresses lined with white taffeta and featuring "the boulfant look". They carried car-ried lndentlcal nosegays of white carnations and baby breath. Best man was Jon Shumate, a brother of the bridegroom; and the ushering was done by MR. AND MRS. JAMES LYNN SHUMATE Gary Nelson, Charles Nelson, Jim' Leigh and Mark Woodbury.. Wood-bury.. . ' The mothers of the bridal pair wore chiffon. Mrs. Nelson's Nel-son's gown was pale green and Mrs. Shumate's was apple ap-ple green. Each wore White rosebud corsages. Mr., Shumafe, the father of the bridegroom was unable to attend the wedding festivities because he is with the U.S. Forest Service assigned to Viet Nairn. Presiding at the guest book was the bride's sister-in-law, Mrs. Charles Nelson while Joan Brewer, Phylis Hart and Shirley Hart acted as hostesses hostes-ses for the evening. I The bride's young cousin, Brete ' Hart, acted as gift bearer and Mrs. Trusten Hart Was In the gift room. At the serving table were Mrs. Gary Nelson and Mrs. John Shumate. They were assisted as-sisted hy the bride's cousins, Lbraine and Delores Hart, Brenda and Julie Hart, and Amy Jane Hart. . Helping in the kitchen were Bilye Humphreys, Lily Hazel, Alive Gower and Mildred Nelson. Nel-son. Out-of-town guests included Mr. and Mrs. Jon Shumate, Cuba, N. The bride chose soft navy and white polka dot blouse with long full sleeves with a white floor length pleated skirt for her going away costume. cos-tume. They honeymooned for a week on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon before returning return-ing to Salt Lake where both have been attending the University Uni-versity of Utah. The "new" Mrs. Shumate Is a pharmacy major at the University. Uni-versity. She is a graduate Of East High in Salt Lake and Rockhampton Girls School in Rockhamipton, Qu eensland, Australia. ; ! Mr. Shumate will receive his B.A. in History in August from the "U" and plana to begin Law School in the Fall. He is a graduate of : Cedar High. , . 1 ft A'V.'l . : Cm Friday, June 9 the smother smo-ther of the bridegroom was hostess at a dinner following the wedding rehearsal for the bridal party and immediate immedi-ate families of the bride and bridegroom. Other pre-nuptial festivities included a bridal shower given by Misses Jane Redd ahd Marcia Woodbury in Bountiful Bounti-ful and a shower in Cedar City with Mrs. Vander Nelson and Mxs. Hiram Humphreys as hostesses. |
