Show Parowan, Panguitch stakes join in Ml A Girls' Camp at Maple Spring The Parowan Stake Y. W. M. I. A. Girls' Camp was held June 12, 13, 14 and 15 at Maple Ma-ple Springs in Parowan Canyon Can-yon where 81 girls and leaders lead-ers gathered together under direction of Joan W. Wasden, Stake camp director. The Panguitch Stake, with 58 girls and leaders joined the Parowan Stake and held their camp at the same time. How-, How-, ever, under the certification program each stake held their own program. There were six girls who completed their Fourth Year Certification. This consisted of carrying a regular pack on their backs and hiking all the way into camp. The second and third years hiked into camp without a pack, and the first year girls took their hike Wednesday morning at 6. The Stake Aaronic Priesthood Priest-hood Committee helped Wednesday Wed-nesday evening by cooking potatoes and onions in thei Dutch oven as the girls cooked cook-ed their own steaks. Sister Nevada Adams prepared pre-pared her specialty of sour dough hot cake batter and the stakes cooked it Thursday morning as the girls broke camp and prepared to return home. It was felt by those in attendance that it was one of the best "camps held for sometime. some-time. There were 19. girls and leaders lea-ders from the Third Ward, 12 from the Second Ward, 12 from the 'First Ward, eight from Paragonah, 11 from Summit and 19 from Enoch. An outstanding out-standing testimony meeting was held Wednesday evening out under the stars by both stakes, with a large participation partici-pation from the girls. The YWMIA extend their thanks and appreciation to all the leaders and the Aaronic Priesthood Committee Which worked so hard to help make the camp a success. |
