Show Harriet Eliason bids for State School board post , I " i Harriet Hinkley (Eliason of i Delta has announced her can-' didacy for the four year term on the Utah State Board of Education in District 7. Under the reapportionment authorized by the state legislature legis-lature District 7 is comprised of 18 school districts including Beaver, Garfield, Iron, Juab, Tintic, Kane, Millard, Piute, North Sanpete, South Sanpete, Sevier, Tooele, Washington, Wayne, Provo City and Alpine. Two state board members are apportioned to this district, Mrs. Eliason said one of her major goals as a board member mem-ber would be to coordinate bhe' state's -efi-ueation program with the economic structure in regard to current and future job opportunities. , "Students also need training train-ing in the evaluation of soc- ial problems and the ability to adjust to change," she said. 1 The School Board candidate holds a master's degree from the University of Utah , and j has had training and experience experi-ence in social work. She has had experience as PTA president presi-dent of Delta Junior and Sen-ioi) Sen-ioi) High School, has served as a substitute teacher, is a Millard Mil-lard Day Care Center volunteer volun-teer worker and chairman of the exceptional child program of the PTA. "I have enjoyed meeting many fine people of our state through my recently completed complet-ed term as Utah State Cow-Belle Cow-Belle president, an auxiliary arm of the Utah Cattlemen's .HARRIET H. ELIASON Association," said Mrs. Elia-i Elia-i oon, " and I am aware of the challenge to develop vocational vocation-al education opportunities in our district." She is married to Millard County attorney, Eldon A. Eliason. Her parents are Mr. and Mrs. Parnell Hinkley of Salt Lake City. She has a son attending Dt- m Junior High and a daughter at Delta High and two daughters at college, in addition two daughters have graduated. |
