Show Funeral services held for Deserct Matthews Funeral services were held Saturday, Juiu 17 at the Cedar Eighth Ward Chapel for Deseret Marley Mathews, 81, who died at the Valley View Medical Center in Cedar City June 15 of natural causes. Speaker at the services, was Adam C. Seegmiller with . remarks re-marks by Edward H. Hahne, counselor in the Eighth Ward Bishopric, who conducted. Family prayer was offered by Mary G. Dalley. Invocation Invoca-tion was by Al F. Cluff, the benediction by Blaine H. Johnson and the dedication of the grave at the Cedar City cemetery was by William H. Svlvester. Musical selections included a double trio composed of Gladys Isom, Onda Bradshaw, Rhonda Munford, Peg Thorley, Orman Wood and Dixie Math-eson, Math-eson, accompanied by Dixie Morrcll, singing "O My Father," and a vocal solo, "The Lord's Prayer," by Howard F. Wood, accompanied by Hal K. Campbell. A poetry tribute, 'Crossing the Bar," was read by Sidney Hahne. Mrs. Mathews was born May 28, 1891 in Robin, Idaho, to John and Nancy Emaline Hawkins Marley. She married George Lester Mathews, Oct. 4, 1914, in Blackfooit. Idaho. He died April 26, 1958. She was an active member of thp LDS Church. " Survivors include daughters, Mrs. Al (Sybil) Cluff, Ukiafy Calif.; Mrs Blaine (Loa) Johnson, John-son, Cedar City. Also surviving are six grandchildren grand-children and four great-grandchildren and two brothers, Ether Lee, Robin, Idaho; and Owen, Arimo, Idaho. |
