Show Vell pump, Airport improvement jobs discussed by City Council At Monday night's meeting of the Parowan City Council, plans were discussed for letting let-ting bids for two city projects which have been in the planning plan-ning stage for several weeks, according to Ralph Orton, mayor. The bid calls will be for installing a new pump and motor on the city well at the southeast corner of the city and improvements at the mu- nicipal airport. A number of other matters were also taken tak-en up by the council, including includ-ing the study of a budget of . expenditures for the fiscal year, July 1, 19G9 to June 30, 1970. Engineer Ralph Piatt met with the council to go over plans and specifications for the installation of equipment at the well, and stated that the same had been sent into the state health dept. for its approval. It is hoped that bids . on the project can be opened and the contract awarded at the June 23 meeting of the council. The city has received approval ap-proval from the State Aeronautics Aeron-autics Administration for publishing pub-lishing of bids for grading and other improvements at the airport and the bid call will be published so that they ' may be opened at the June 26 meeting of the council, also. Wood Decker, city manager, discussed sewer and street -problems with the council. : The city has been notified that the Alder Construction Co. prime bidder on last year's sewer project, will have men and equipment here on July 7 to complete its job. This will include the cleanup of city streets, filling in of sunken sewer mains and oiling of street crossings, etc. Councilman Earl Bunn recommended rec-ommended that an appropriation appropria-tion og $450 be made from the city recreation fund to assist in the Little League baseball program now getting under way, and his recommendation was approved. Mr. Bunn also reported that a concrete apron had been run at the southwest entrance to the swimming pool, that the pool had been cleaned and made raidy for its opening open-ing which had been planned for this week end. The city planning commission commis-sion recommended to the council that an area on the west side of the city be re-zoned re-zoned into a commercial district dis-trict for use as a trailer court at the Alma Hyatt property on the west end of 100 North St. This matter was taken under consideration for more study. The matter of preparing for the observance of July 4 in Parowan, was discussed and councilman Wimmer Morten-sen Morten-sen was placed in charge of this event, with the recommendation recom-mendation that Mrs. Beverly Taylor be asked to act as the chairman of a committee to prepare for a fitting abserv-ance abserv-ance of that day. |
