Show Fishing generally good in South Utah After two weeks of the i general fishing season has nearly been completed in U-1 tah, the Utah State Fish and Game has prepared a roundup of the activities on he various streams and lakes. Following is the report of success in the southern Utah area as reported by the Fish and Game: Minersville Reservoir: Fair for rainbow trout. to 5 lbs. heavy pressure. Panguitch Lake: Good for rainbow trout and cutthroat. Pressure fair; fishing from boats best; flat fish, spinners and popgear best. Mammoth Creek: Slow for rainbow trout; high water. Asay Creek: Slow for rainbow rain-bow trout; high, muddy water. Pine Lake: Good for rainbow trout and brook trout; pressure pres-sure fair. Yankee Meadow Reservoir: Fair from shore; Good from boats for rainbow and brook trout; Brook trout to 14"; rainbow rain-bow trout 9-11" with some 2 lb. being caught; shore bait; boat trolling & bait best. New Castle Reservoir: Very poor. Lake Powell: Fair for Bass; Good for crappie and bluegill; Excellent for trout; Good for catfish; Last week the air temperature at Lake Powell was in the high 80's and low 90's. During the same period the reservoir rose about 5 ft. and it's still coming up. Aspen-Mirror Lake: Good for rainbow trout, German browns and brook trout. Oak Creek: Good for rainbow rain-bow trout and German browns; Heavy pressure. Maple Creek: Good for rainbow rain-bow trout; Heavy pressure. Fish Lake: Excellent for rainbow trout, German browns and Mackinaw. Rainbow trout 11" from boat or shore; bait with corn or worms best; spinners spin-ners and flatfish good. Mackinaw Mack-inaw taken 21 Ms lbs. 18 lbs., 14 lbs., 10 lbs. Browns 11 lbs., 5 lbs. Johnson Reservoir: Fair for rainbow trout and German biowns. Average 13"; boats. Seven-Mile: Excellent for rainbow trout and cutthroat; Average 13". Pine Valley Reservoir: Excellent Ex-cellent for, rainbow trout and German browns; Heavy pressure; pres-sure; fish 12-16". Baker Reservoir: Fair to good for rainbow trout and German browns; windy. Upper and Lower Enterprise: Good for rainbow trout; Fish small and thin. Kolob Reservoir: Excellent for rainbow trout, brook trout and cutthroat; High clear water; wat-er; shore angling excellent; cutthroat 10-12"; rainbow trout 11-22"; brook trout 8-15"; most all baits good; trolling fair; popgear best. Forsyth Reservoir: Fair for rainbow trout and brook trout; Water still too high. |
