I'ersons with criminal records are handicapped all through life. In many states, a person with a po- lice record must meet special conditions to obtain ; or renew a driver's license. Conviction can prevent a person from being able to enter a profession such as medicine, law or teaching. It can be difficult for t'him to get a responsible position in business or in- dustry. Special hearings are necessary before he can hold a government job. k In addition to the legal penalties of marijuana smoking, the health element is something for youth- ful pot smokers to keep in mind. Statements being ; reported by students that the use of marihuana is "medically safe" are not supported by scientific evidence. evi-dence.
