I -VMM iM MMMnBBMMMil City Council considers improvement district Cedar City Council, mooting in regular session Thursday evening authorized consultation consulta-tion with the Bonding House of Burrows, Smith and Company Com-pany to discuss details of a proposed special improvement district on the north and south entrances to the city for the Installation of curb and gutter. According to Mayor Lorcn Whet ten the proposed im-1 provement district would include in-clude all of the Highway 91 approach from the Inter-change Inter-change to Main Street on the south and from Main Street to an area just north off Pctro. lane Gas company on the North. . Under the special Improvement Improve-ment district all property owners own-ers in the area would be levied a foe for the installation of tlie curb and guttter and it would provide the require-' , i ments necessitated by the state for the inclusion of a full four-lane highway in the respective, areas. In addition the Council set the date of July 3 at 8 p. m. for a public hearing which would consider rezonlng of tho newly annexed area on the South approach from the Interchange In-terchange to the old city limits to highway services zone 2. I In other action the council I accepted a bid from Richarcj Nelson for the completion of the rennovation of Flood Control Con-trol Unit 3 of the Green's Lake Watershed to bring it up to a standard necessary to protect the area: The Nelson bid was for $6,012.50 but would allow some latitude based on total yardage of earth moved in the project. Recently a slurry process to repair major damage to the dam areas was completed and the contract let by the council Thursday would complete tho repair project. It calls primarily for grading, grad-ing, with some excavation and filling. A lease, negotiated by the Mayor with new Codar City Airport Manager Bruce Stucki, was also ratified by the council coun-cil at the meeting. The lease agreement is retroactive to May 1 when Stucki took over the facilities, succeeding Art Wells, who accepted employ, ment with the FFA in Port-t land, Oregon. The new manager expects to , increase the services at the airport. Mayor Whetten stated, stat-ed, to include sales and service ser-vice of airplanes and airplane equipment, air taxi service, flight instruction, airplane and engine maintenance and it is hoped that a special instruction in-struction course can be offered offer-ed wherehy students will be able to obtain college credit for flight instruction. Mayor Whetten also reminded remind-ed citizens that a public hearing hear-ing on the 1969-70 budget will be held on June 19 at 9 p. m. and extended an invitation for all interested to attend. The council further discussed, discuss-ed, but took no action, on the proposed development of a master plan for the city and Its future development. Such a plan is becoming more and more imparative in the acquisition ac-quisition of funds for community com-munity development through various government agencies. It could also give direction to other community initiated pro. jects and activities he suggested. |
