Fifty-one students of the Parowan High School received receiv-ed diplomas at the graduating graduat-ing exercises of the school on Thursday night in the auditorium. audi-torium. The large crowd attending at-tending the program all but filled the new edifice to its capacity, ca-pacity, the largest crowd yet to file into the auditorium. The brief and impressive rites, barely over an hour in length was prepared and presented pre-sented by the students in its entirety until it reached the presentation of the diplomas, and was built around a theme "We are young but years have no monopoly on courage". Five honor students presented present-ed the theme in their talks. They were Sherry Dawn Dal-ton, Dal-ton, Gail Bentley, Barbara Ann Stones, Keith LoRoy Adams, and Eugene Adams.. Other speaking parts were by Keith Burt Stubbs, class president; Basil John Gilger, Beverly Re-nee Re-nee Harris, Brad Orton Richard Rich-ard M. Adams, Marsha Stubbs. Assisting were Lucy Faye Benson, Kevin Scott Guffey, Diane Lamoreaux, Michael R. Rowley, Tima Elaine Butcher, Ward Bettridge. All musical numbers were built into the theme by the class with Chris-Evans Chris-Evans soloists in one number, tine Worthen and Mary Anne The only deviation from the printed program was when Principal Bruce Decker, in presenting pre-senting the class, invited Superintendent Sup-erintendent Joe A. Reidhead to talk briefly. In his remarks Dr. Reidhead told of his love' for the Parowan High School, paid tribute to its staff and reminded the area residents of what must be-done to justify the school in our midst. At the close of his remarks hei was given a standing ovation j |
