Show Voluntary Firemen Hnswer Calls to Trash and Weed Fires The Parowan City volunteer fire department has been kept pretty busy during the past week answering five calls during that time. The best thing about all the calls was the fact that they involved mostly trash and brush fires with very little damage being be-ing done. The first part of the week they answered a call to the Elmer Bettridge home to quench a weed and brush fire. On Thursday eve-Ing eve-Ing a small shed at the rear of the Robert Miller property was i destroyed when it caught fire presumably from a trash fire nearby. j On Saturday the fire was at the I Don Applegate home on Main Street and on Sunday evening the department answered a call to the Randall Adams farm north east of town, where fire had gotten got-ten into a haystack but which was brought under control before much damage was done. On Saturday Sat-urday of the week before the department de-partment answered a call to the Parowan Liquor Store where a fire had broken out over the ceiling, but was put out with no extensive damage. At this time of the year the fire hazard is great, what with the long dry spring, and citizens are reminded to be extra careful before starting fires and make sure they can control them, it is urged by Ted Burton, fire chief. |
