Redmen Win Track Meet The Redmen will get their second sec-ond test on the week end of April 16 whn they travel to Richfield Rich-field to participate in the Invitational Invi-tational meet being held there. That will be followed by the Snow College Invitational Meet, according to Coach Hal Norton. and a fifth place. Mike Meldrum was the only two event winner for the Kedmen as he swept both the low and high hurdle events. He cleared . the lows in 21.3 seconds and top-i top-i ped the high hurdles in the time ' 15.9 seconds. ! Paul Gardner picked up a first place in the 100 yard dash with the time of 10.3 seconds and finished fin-ished second in the 440 yard run behind another Cedar City run- I ner Mark Richtsteig who covered the distance in 53.5 seconds. Gardner's time in the 410 was i 53.7. Cedar High School Track and field team more than doubled their nearest opponents Dixie High School to walk off with first place honors in the Annual Dixie Invitational Meet held Saturday at St. George, j For the Redmen it was the j eighth time in nine years under i Coach Hal Norton that the Red-men Red-men have won the event the Dixie Invitational. The Redmen team picked up 90 points with Dixie in second with 37 points. I The points came on six first places; four seconds; three thirds, Russell took first place honors in the broad jump with a leap of 20 ft. Vn inch and the 880 yard relay team composed of Robyn Reid, Mike Meldrum, Mark Richtsteig Rich-tsteig and Paul Gardner picked up the final first of the day. Richsteig added a second to his 440 yard victory when he ran the 220 yard dash in 23.3 seconds sec-onds and Dan Tullis picked up a second in the discus with a toss of 122 ft. Wendell Bradshaw placed second in the 880 yard run with a time of 2:12 minutes and Bryan Wood added a second in the javelin with a throw of 1GG ft. Third place was garnered by Dennis Marchant in the javelin and Robyn Reid picked up a pair of thirds, one in the 100 yard dash and one in the low hurdles. |
