Show Dulce Gordon Is New "King of The Hill" Duke Gordon defeated Bill Do-, Do-, ver in 'Top Star Bowling" last Sunday to retain the King of the Hill title. Duke shot games of i 161, 216 and 203 for a k0 series, 'averaging 193 to beat Bill's ser-! ser-! ie:i of 528, 193, 1C7, 103, averaging 17C. The challenger for this Sun-I Sun-I day's "Top Star Bowling" will have the capabilities on a jfven ' night to deieat any ?! the otner teams. Millard, playing on their home court, will be a definite contender and the Redmen could be trapped by Milford if they have the idea that they can overlook over-look the Milford Tigers in, the first round of action. Tournaments are still tournaments tourna-ments and only after the final action can definite conclusions I be made. But, in spite of it all, the Redmen appear to be ready j for this one with good hustle i and desire better than it has been for some time. Coach Hobbs indicatsd that his j I probable starters for Friday's ac-: jtion will include Fred Esplin at center and Scott Nelson and Sandy San-dy Webster at forwards. Bruce Holmes will get one of the starting start-ing calls at the gu- rd line with 'John Black and vid Jensen still battling for the other start- I Ing position. Should Webster not ' be ready for action owing to his I injury Coach Hobbs will probably move Holmes to forward and j start Black and Jensen at guards. This is the combination he used against Hurricane this p?st week. again be Bill Dover who was the high bowler among the 30 contestants con-testants that bowled the "qualifying "quali-fying round" for the Challenger. Bill rolled a 1233 six-game series to become challenger. Dudley Alger Al-ger will be 1st alternate for the Challenger or the King, should either Duke or Bill be absent, with a 1220 six-game series and Gordon Twitchell will be second alternate with a 1209 six-game series. |
