Show ! School Board Sets Year's Calendar, Acts on Requests The 1965-G6 chool calendar was approved Monday by the Iron County School Board. The administrative conference, Institute and Insehool training program for teachers will be conducted con-ducted from August 18 through August 27 with the public schools of the county slated to open on Monday, August 30. This year the board approved Monday, Sept. 6, Labor Day, as a holiday in addition to the regular holiday and vacation schedules. Thanksgiving holidays were declared de-clared for November 25 and 26 and school will dismiss for the Christmas Holiday on the evening even-ing of December 22 and will resume re-sume again on January 3, 19G6. The spring vacation will be held April 7 and 8 and final day of school for the year will be Mayi 27. j Teacher Situation Studied ! Also submitted for initial consideration con-sideration were school personnel for the next school year. Although Al-though not finalized, it was indicated in-dicated that a light turnover was expected on he basis of initial commitments. I In other action of the board, permission was granted for Robert Ro-bert Stratton, principal of the East Eiementary, to attend the Elemenary School Principals con. ference to be held April 6, 7 and 8 at Spokane, Wash. Two teachers from the Iron County Education Association were approved for attendance at-tendance at a salary and contract con-tract conference to be held in Salt Lake City on March 19 and 20 to which the chairman of the board and the superintendent of the district are also expected to j attend. ! Some plans were laid by members mem-bers of the board for attendance at the National School Boards convention to be held the week j of April 6 in Boston, Mass. It was I indicated that all members of i the board were planning to at-1 tend. They will be accompanied by Dr. Joe Reidhead, assistant superintendent of the District. Ski School Okeyed Parowan High School was granted permission of the use of a School Bus for three successive Fridays, to transport students to the Brian Head Ski Resort to paricipate in a special series of skiing lessons being offered free of charge by the Corporation. Attending the board meeting for an annual discussion on Dciiuui jji uuitruis ciiiu activihea were student body oficers of the Cedar and Parowan High Schools and the Cedar Junior High School. Also attending the meeting meet-ing for a clarification of utilization utiliza-tion of the East Elementary recreation rec-reation hall were representatives of the Hey Cedars Square Dance Club. Term on the agreement for usage were discussed and ', clarified. j |
