Show BPW Club Members Hear Civic Report President Edna Sargent presided presid-ed at the regular meeting of the Cedar City Business and Professional Profes-sional Women's Club which was held ot the new College of Souh-ern Souh-ern Utah Student Center. Honored guests were officers of the Southern District of the Business Busi-ness and Professional Women's Clubs, Including Mrs. Naomi Hughes, District Director; Mrs. Pat Rimpaugh, Assistant District Director, and Mrs. Pauline Rum-mler, Rum-mler, secretary-treasurer. They announced the Spring Conference Confer-ence to be held at Kanab April 7th and urged all to attend. The theme of the Conference will be "Leadership". They also talked on membership, saying the golden gold-en key is to be given to any member bringing in five new members. Th ePublic Affairs Committee, consisting of Chairman Annette Betensen, Gwen Beal and Janet Rolio, was Ll charge of the pro-gram. pro-gram. David Williams, accompanied accom-panied by Janet Bunker, sang two delightful Irish songs, "Danny "Dan-ny Boy," and "Believe Me If All Those Endearing Young Charms." The theme for the evening was "Know Your City." Miss Rollo explained how the city is run, where we get our revenues and how they aie dispensed. dis-pensed. She also outlined the advantages of the sales tax. Mrs. Beal . discussed new ordinances as a member of the City Planning Plan-ning Commission for nine years. Mrs. Sargent as a member of the Beautification Board, told of plans for the year. April first to seventh is "Beautification Week," she advised members. A lively and Instructive question ques-tion and answer period ended a very fine meeting. Clever green . and gold bookmarks with "BPW Club Know Your City" were favors at each plate. |
