Show PTA Group Sponsors Symposium on Mental Health Issues j On March 29 at 8:00 p. m. the j North Elementary School Parent-I Parent-I Teachers Association will pre-! pre-! sent a symposium on mental health in the North Elementary auditorium. PTA officials feel this is a very important meeting since mental problems are growing while science has conquered many physical illnesses. The 1950 Mid-Century White House Conference on Mental Health pointed out that from studies made in Ohio, Illinois and New York, between one-fourth one-fourth and one-fifth of the children chil-dren in our schools show some social and emotional maladjustment. maladjust-ment. A report made recently shows that 725 patients are admitted to psychiatric hospital service on an average day, and pointed out that this year one out of every five families will send a relative rela-tive for psychiatric care.
