Show Judicial Judgeship Appointment In Hands o! Governor George D. Clyde, governor of Utah, will make an appointment in the very near future to fill a vacancy of the Fifth Judicial Judgeship in southern Utah. .The vacancy was brought About by the retirement of Judge "Will L. Hoyt, who resigned from the position owing to 111 health. The appointment to be made -would fill the unexpired term of Judge Hoyt, which will end Dec. 31. 1962. The Judgeship Is an elective olflce and will oe placed on the ballot in November of this year. Jt Is a six year term of office-Considerable office-Considerable Interest in the appointment ap-pointment has been shown throughout the judicial district, .and it is considered that the appointment ap-pointment will be made In the -very near future. At least one candidate has expressed ex-pressed his desire for the position posi-tion to Governor Clyde. That Is Charles M. Pickett of St. George, -who is currently serving as the district attorney. In a report of his application to the governor, Pickett, a Democrat, Dem-ocrat, indicated, apparently, that he did not expect the appointment appoint-ment However, he did Indicate tat regardless of whether or not. he was appointed to the position po-sition he would seek the Judgeship Judge-ship In November, pointing out that the appointive term is for th remainer of 1902 only. Other attorneys in the five county district have expressed an Interest in the position and it is believed that several recommendations recommen-dations have already been made to Governor Clyde. It Is understood that Udell Jensen, Jen-sen, a Nephl attorney, has made application for the position. .Add other statements. |
