Show Seminary Olliueis Selected By Stake Presidency Officers for the Cedar City LDS Seminary were selected recently to serve during the 1956-57 school year. It was announced by the Cedar Stake Presidency. This year, for the first time, the officers', offi-cers', a president, two counselors and a secretary were chosen by the stake presidency. In the past the offices have been filled by vote of the student body of the Seminary. Because the Seminary is a part of the LDS Church and is under the administrative Jurisdiction of the Cedar Stake, the selections' were made this yar, as sJectlons are made in the various wards and in the auxiliary organizations organiza-tions of the wards. Leo Larson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Larson of Cedar City, was selected as president of the Seminary with counselors Mary I Ellen Edmunds, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Paul K. Edmunds, and Douglas Braithwaite, son of Dr. and Mrs. Royden C. Braithwaite, as counselors. Secretary is Karen Kar-en Jones, daughter of Bisliop and Mrs. LaNoir Jones. Following the appointment of these officers by the stake presidency, pres-idency, the officers were sustalnd In those positions by the seminary semin-ary membership. It was pointed out that the Seminary functions separately, but In cooperation with the coun ty school system. In other words, faculty, activities and classes are separate from the regular school curriculum, but the school allows students one hour each day, if they desire, to leave the regular campus and attend Seminary classes. These officers will assume their new responsibilities at the beginning be-ginning of school next fall. Bevan Corry is the present president of the Seminary student stu-dent body. |
