Show Parowan City Chamber of Commerce Works With Councilto Promote Plans . A delegation representing the Tarowan Chamber of Commerce and including the new officers of that organization, met with the Parowan City Council Monday Mon-day night to present a list of improvements im-provements which the group has drawn up, and which the members mem-bers feel would be of great benefit bene-fit to Parowan City. They pledged themselves as members of the chamber to work with the city administration in any way they can to help these plans become a reality. Presenting the program were Howard Joseph, president ; Jim Barton, vice president and Robert Rob-ert B. Mitchell, secretary, with Doris Benson and John H. Pen-djeton. They presented the following follow-ing list of improvements which they felt would be of benefit to the city of Parowan in encourag-Ing encourag-Ing growth, tourist trade and Improve Im-prove business conditions in the city: 1. Parking on Main Street. It was noted that parking space is limited on this street and urged limited time parking in certain sections to make room for park-lng park-lng by tourists' and other travelers. travel-ers. Continue the program of do- ing away with unsightly buildings build-ings and fences in the city and especially those abutting on the main thoroughfare. 5. Erect appropriate signs at entrances to the city for the purpose pur-pose of informing tourists of the things we have to offer. 6. to cooperate wholeheartedly with the new Five County Organization Or-ganization in its program to promote pro-mote the improvement of all communities and scenic areas in the five county area to take advantage ad-vantage of the new business which may come to this section because of National Park Improvements' Im-provements' and the building of the Glen Canyon Dam. 7. Zoning the city to encourage home building and beautiflcatlon of the city in general. A number of these items are already being considered by the city officials and they agreed that all me needed and intimat- ed that through the cooperative effort of the city the chamber and the citizens generally many of these things can be accomp-lished. |
