Show Pony Leaguers Throw Race Into 3-Way Tie LEAGUE STANDING Arden 3 2 .600 Pow 3 2 ;&00 Construction - 1 4 .200 Cedar City Pony League was thrown Into a three-way tie for first place this past week with Southern Utah Power mov ing in-To in-To a tie for first place wtth two wins. Power took a 9 to 8 w,n over Utah Construction and came on to defeat Arden 10 to 7. Steve Cahoon was credited with both wins far Southern Utah Power in their two games this nast week. Against Utah Con-structChe Con-structChe was on the mound for the first three innings with Steven Judd and Dennis Slack completing the game or . the mound. Cahoon was also lnstru Sal at the bat with a grand Sam homer in the top of the third frame. The feat was nearly matched bv Kent Smith of Construction In the boUom of fthe third when he homered to drive In three runs. S teams collected six hUsand Danny Lindsay was g.ven the loss for UC. Power pushed in "ye run. In the bottom of the first frame aeainst Arden Monday evening and staved off a final rally by the dairymen to pick up their second win of the week 10 to Cahoon was again the winning pitcher and Slack was called in relief in the fifth Inning. In the seven innings of play only one hit was made, a triple by Donnie Roberts of Arden. Walks In the first two frames were converted Into four runs for Arden to take the lead and Roberts scored in the third following his triple to account for all five runs. Bob Cufff started and had to be taken tak-en out in the second inning when he sprained his ankle sliding Into In-to home plate. Roberts came on for four innings and the no hitter hit-ter was completed by Don A. Matheson. Tuesday evening Utah TarUs made it a three-way tie with a 23 to 6 shellacking of Utah Construction. Parks picked up five runs in each of the first two Innings and added eight In the sixth before the game was halted by the head umpire after two hours of play. As he was covering home plate pn a passed ball, the runner attempting at-tempting to score, stepped on his hand, inflicting several spike cuts.
