Show Council Okeys Cooling System for Hydro-Electric Plant At the meeting of the Parowan Paro-wan City Council on Monday night a decision was made to install in-stall a high capacity cooling system in the Paragonah hydroelectric hydro-electric plant to help hold down the heat of the generating machinery, ma-chinery, which has been running very hot this spring. Owing to the size of the generator gen-erator room and lack of ventilation ventila-tion or "other reasons, the generator gener-ator has been running so hot it threatens to shut itself off, cutting cut-ting the power output into the Parowan system. It has been recommended by city engineer Thomas C. Adams that a cooler be installed to alleviate al-leviate the heating problem and at Monday's meeting Mayor Howard Joseph was authorised to make arrangements with the Holmes Sheet Metal Co. of Cedar City to install an extra large cooling system at the plant, at an estimated cost of $380.00. Other matters transacted during dur-ing the system was a decision to make a few minor changes in the recently enaciod planning and zoning ordinance, which was published in the Parowan Times last week. Following these minor changes, the ordinance will be republished by the Times at no cost to the city, it is announced by Mayor Joseph. As the result of flooding and damage to city streets and to property of residents of the city during the present high water wa-ter time, the mayor and council are making an appeal to citizens to be more careful with their waste water or portions of their regular water turns which they do not need. Citizens are urged to do all they can to keep the water off the streets and from damaging their neighbor's premises. They are urged to turn the water down the main ditches when they are not in need of it or have too much to use. They are also warned not to put dams In to turn the water into their lots before be-fore their turn comes unless they are going to be home to care for the water. Some residents have had their gardens flooded when water users above them have turned the water down on them. The City Recreation Committee Commit-tee reported that work was go-(lng go-(lng ahead with the construction of new and much needed modern rest room facilities at the city-race city-race track, as an Improvement to sanitary conditions at that 1 place. |
