Show Leon Hyatt Chosen Recipient of Seminary Scholarship . .yiv - - "7 : .'! ' -f"- : . . LEON HTATT Leon Hyatt, 17-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Milton Hyatt of Cedar Ce-dar City, was the recipient this year of the $100 Lois Baird Ilea-ton Ilea-ton Memorial Scholarship offered offer-ed by Elbert Lewis and Allen B. Heaton in honor of their mother. Hyatt was selected for his wory particularly in his seminary semin-ary studies on a scholastic basis ba-sis as the third recipient of this coveted scholarship. Presentation Presenta-tion was made at the Seminary graduation ceremonies this year. Stipulation of the scholarship fund gives the recipient the option op-tion of using the money for a mission or to continue his education educa-tion including classes at the L. D. S. Institute.. Hyatt Indicates that will use the fund to continue con-tinue his studies at the College of Southern Utah in the field of engineering. in addition to achieving high scholastic standards at the seminary sem-inary as well as In his regular studies, Hyatt, served as Seminary Semin-ary student body president for the 1956-57 school year. At the end of that term he was graduated grad-uated and this past year took an aditional fourth year of seminary semin-ary work, which is not required for graduation purposes from the Seminary. He also wrs chosen in his regular reg-ular scholastic studies as the outstanding English student of his graduating class. He graduated gradu-ated from high school in commencement com-mencement exercises last month. This is the third annual scholarship schol-arship awarded by the Heaton Brothers in honor of their mother, Lois Baird Heaton. |
