Show Yankee Reservoir Water Spills Over the Top The Water in" Yankee Meadow Reservoir finally reached the overflow spillway on Saturday of last week and by Sunday after- noon about one second foot was going over the spillways and flowing down to augment the other creeks coming out of Bowery Bow-ery and down First Left Hand Canyon. This is the first time in several years that this has happened, although it got up to within few feet of the spillway last season. sea-son. The two years prior to thai were bad snow years and the wa-tre wa-tre level was way down In the reservoir. The water is lapping at the entrance to the old Gun and Rod Club cabin on the northeast shore of the lake just above the dam and has covered up some of the roads leading around the reservoir on the south end. The streams flowing into the storage reservoir as still high, the one which comes in near the dam being much higher than usual us-ual and the one coming in at the south end running several second sec-ond feet at the "present time. Meantime the streams in Second Sec-ond Left Hand and Main Canyons Can-yons are holding up quite well, and these, augmented by the overflow from the Yankee, should keep the Parowan City and fields irrigation water supply up for some tims yet. |
