It was the largest larg-est purchase of its kind made through the nation-wide company. Beryl Farmer Begins Purebred Pig Farm i Ralph W. Smith of Beryl has started a rather unique pig farm in the Escalante Valley as the result of a recent purchase of 22 purebred pigs ordered through a mail order house. Smith recently ordered the 22 purebred Yorkshire and Hamp- shire pigs through Montgomery Ward's Denver mail order house with the cost coming to $1,221. It was the largest order of its kind ever received by the company, com-pany, the only company of its kind which offers purebred breeder pigs in a catalog. The Escalante Valley farmer drove a truck to Danville, 111. where he pjeked up 11 Hamp-shires Hamp-shires and then to the William McCormick Blair farm at Lake Bluff, 111., where he chose 11 Yorkshire, then returned to Beryl to establish his new pig farm. |
