Show Little League Promotion America's faster growing youth program will sponsor baseball's most impressive single day schedule of games when upwards of 4,500 Little Leagues join forces in sup-port sup-port of Little League Foundation Day on Saturday, June 14. The annual Flag Day observance by local leagues is expected to result in the world-wide spectacle of more than 150,000 boys representing 9,000 teams engaged in 4,500 games on a single day. Total attendance of parents and fans will range between 500,000 and one million. The combined operations of organized baseball, intercollegiate inter-collegiate and amateur games on a single day would not approximate this array of players, teams and fans who will comprise the Foundation Day schedule. In addition to games to be played in the United States, Little Leaguers in Canada, Europe, Latin-America and the Pacific areas will take part in games to help the Little League Foundation Founda-tion drive. .... All contests ere regular season games, but in hundreds hun-dreds of cities and communities special ceremonies are being be-ing arranged for Little League fields. Governors, mayors and municipal officials have issued proclamations, designating desig-nating Flag Day as Little League Foundation Day and urging community support for the Foundation. Locally, ceremonies will be conducted at the Little League park at 5 p. m. prior to the regular league game between the Milne and Columbia teams. Orville Isom, president pres-ident of the league, will be in charge of ceremonies. Everyone Every-one is urged to be present. The Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to perpetuating Little League baseball, making it self-supporting self-supporting and providing instruments and facilities for improved leadership, training and practical aids to meet the growth demands of the program. Once each year on the occason of Foundation Day. local leagues are invited to participate in fund raising by pledging the donations of games on that day to the Foundation. |
