Five Cedar City women will begin Dial Phone System Familiarization Program Begins Here The Mountain States Telephone and Telegraph Company has just hired and trained five local ladles lad-les to work on a door-to-door canvass In Cedar City, stated Dean Williams, local manager. The ladies are Afton Stapley, Marrlssa Stratton, Orissa Hirschl, Vetta Rhodes and LaZona Ave-disian. Ave-disian. These five ladies, aH from Cedar Ce-dar City, were hired and trained under the supervision of Richard E. Drury, company representative from Provo, who has been In Cedar Ce-dar City for the past week especially es-pecially for this canvass. According to Mr. Williams, these women will start their canvass can-vass on Monday, May 26, and will continue .through the middle of the next month. They will give dial demonstrations and explain the new dial telephone system which is to be placed in operation opera-tion early next winter. They will also discuss the service ser-vice Improvements plans. Williams said all of the telephone tele-phone numbers In Cedar City will change at the time the new dial system is placed In operation. opera-tion. The new telephone numbers will contain a "prefix" name of JUniDer 6-. followed by four numerals. nu-merals. A typical number would be JUniper 6-5106. Until that time telephone subscribers should continue con-tinue to use their present telephone tele-phone numbers. Williams also said that the new dial telephone system will be equipped with sufficient facilities facil-ities for all customers in the urban ur-ban areas to have private line service, and the telephone company com-pany Is waiving the charge tor installing extension telephones and colored telephones if it is done during this conversion. The canvass, which begins on Monday, will, In addition to providing pro-viding Information as to the use of dial telephones, also give the company needed Information as to the type of service that the people of this community will desire de-sire under the new system.
