Show Outstanding Four Team Hoop Series Set for Friday Basketball fans of southern Utah will be treated to one of the most outstanding pre-season series of the year this week end when Parowan High School and Cedar City High School of Iron County entertain the famous Jordan Jor-dan High School, featuring "Poison" "Poi-son" Pollard, and Springville High School. The four team affair will start in Cedar City Friday night with Springville meeting Parowan on the Memorial Fieldhouse floor at 7 o'clock and the Cedar Redmen entertaining the Jordan quintet at 8. Saturday night the opponents oppon-ents will be reversed and the four teams will make to Parowan High School gymnasium for the second night series. Saturday night the Redmen and Springville will open the series ser-ies at 7 o'clock and Parowan will meet Jordan at 8:30. Probably the most publicized high school basketball player in the state for the past two years. Pollard, a six foot 10 inch giant, has been tagged as one of the outstanding prepsters in the Class A ranks of the state. The attraction of this outstanding boy against the local talent should draw a reasonably good crowd. Springville, although beaten badly last week bv Jordan, is coached by Alma Garrett, former for-mer mentor at the Cedar City High School. His team, ranked high in Class B circles last year, will be a top contender in the ranks again this yijar, and will give both of the southern Utah teams a battle. Jordan, favored to win both of its games in the southern Utah trek, may not have it quite so easy as 'expected. However, win or lose, local fans will he able to se- some outstanding out-standing high school basketball. |
