Show Cedar City loins Nation in S-D Day Program Cedar City in cooperation with a national program promoted by the president of the United States, Dwight D. Eisenhower, will participate par-ticipate in Safe-Driving Day (S-D Day) Wednesday, December Decem-ber 15 as proclaimed by the president, by Governor J. Bracken Brack-en Lee of Utah, and Arnold Anderson, mayor of Cedar City. The purpose of S-D Day, it was pointed out by Al Jensen, chairman chair-man of activities in Cedar City, is to show that motorists and pedestrians can eliminate traffic accidents by their own actions. He added, that by asking everyone every-one in every state and community commun-ity to join in a 21-hour demonstration, demon-stration, dramatic and convincing convinc-ing results can be achieved. In an effort to further the cause of S-D Day the garages of Cedar City in cooperation with the committee and the Iron County Sheriffs office have offered of-fered a Free Safety check on all cars the two days prior to S-D Day. Monday, Dec. 13 and Tuesday, Dec. 14 the following garages will give anyone who calls in a free safety check: Bradshaw Chevrolet Co.: Cedar Motor Co.; Cox Motor,; Fair Deal Motor,; Lunt Motor and the Tri-State Motor, and Thorley Motor. Wednesday, Dec 15 will present pre-sent a test to citizens of Cedar City, Jensen stated, a test for every community to remain completely com-pletely free of traffic accidents for the 24-hour period. (Editorial comment on page two) Following is a list of "What individuals will be asked to do on S-D Day: 1. Observe the letter and the spirit of all traffic regulations. 2. Be courteous to every driver and pedestrian .... practice sportsmanship. 3. Give full attention to driving and walking. In short: Drive and walk as yon would have everyone else drive and walk. A national score sheet will be keot in cooperation with public officials, press associations and newspapers so that the results of the Nation-wide S-D Day efforts may be measured, Jensen stated. - - - - |
