Show Local Radio Station Gives Record Collection to College The entire record collection of classical music, on the standard speed discs, of Radio KSUB, Cedar Ce-dar City, was presented this week to the music department at the College of Southern Utah. The gift totalled more than a thousand different recordings, some of which are the long-play type. Arthur Higbee, manager of KSUB, announced the donation to Professor Roy L. Halverson, head of the college music department. de-partment. Mr. Higbee indicated that future contributions will al so be made. The outstanding collection will be placed in Thorley Music Hall, adjacent to the campus, with a plaque designating the donors by it. Included in the collection are the finest available recordings of symphonic and operatic literature; liter-ature; a representation of chamber cham-ber music; and vocal solos with piano and orchestral accompaniment. accompani-ment. "This collection is a tremendous tremen-dous help to the music department depart-ment because of the numerous recordings it is not able to purchase pur-chase itself," stated Mr. Halverson Halver-son in expressing appreciation for the splendid addition to the college musical library. |
