Show Parowan C of C I Elects Officers for 1955 At the annual election meeting meet-ing of the Parowan Chamber of Commerce Monday night at the courtroom of the Iron County courthouse, Ivan Decker, local postmaster, was chosen to head the organization for the coming year. Mr. Decker will succeed S. M. Clark, who has served as the president of the chamber during the year coming to a close. Other officers elected Monday-night Monday-night were: Eugene M. Orton, vice president; Watson Adams, secretary and treasurer with Ed King (re elected), Howard Ward and Dr. Roy T. Wilkerson as the members ot the board of directors. direc-tors. Retiring officers besides Mr. Clark, are Marvin Graff, vice-president; vice-president; Bruce Decker, secretary secre-tary and treasurer; George D. Grimshaw, Alma Lawrence and Alma Topham as directors. A report of the activities of the organization for the past year was given and an outline of what the group intends to do in the coming year were outlined. Bruce Decker, who besides being secretary secre-tary of the chamber, supervised the summer recreation program inauguraated last spring for the first time in Parowan, reported on the Little and Pony League baseball program, Softball and of the large number participating in the weekly swimming period per-iod at the Cedar City pool. Also last summer the tennis court on the school grounds was enlarged and improved to make for more use, and a concrete wall was placed around the court to make its use possible as an ice skating rink this winter. E. J. King was chairman of the recreation rec-reation committee for the city. Outlined for next year by Mr. Decker and Mr. Clark is a continuation contin-uation of the biiseball and swim-miner swim-miner nroeram. a nroiect to lieht the Parowan High School athletic ath-letic field for evening sports, and the encouragement of more extensive ex-tensive use of the tennis court. Before the meeting adjourned a Christmas Lighting Committee was appointed by Mr. Clark, who presided at the meeting. This committee, consisting of Ed King, chairman, with E. Ray Lyman and Carl Rummler as members, was assured the support of the chamber and other civic organizations organi-zations in arranging for some Christmas lighting program |
