Show Standard Oil Film Tours Cedar Civic Clubs, Schools The Standard Oil Company of California provided a very educational edu-cational film for showing at lo-cal lo-cal civic club meetings this week, and for student gatherings. gather-ings. The film, from the library of the Standard Oil Company, and shown by Jack Todd, local Standard manager, dealt with the work being done to help backward countries and to build good-will for the United States through the establishment of universities that are open to people peo-ple of any race, creed or color who wishes to seek enlightenment enlighten-ment and education. The film dealt specifically with the wholly endowed University Univer-sity of Beorut in Iebanon. Emphasis Em-phasis was given the ancient philosophies 0f the country and what is being done to bring modern mod-ern education to the people of the countries in that part of the world. The University of Beirut, incidentally, in-cidentally, is the institution at which Glen Wahlquist. former Branch Agricultural college faculty fac-ulty member, is now teaching. The film was shown at the meeting of the Kiwanls club Monday Mon-day evenlnz. at th reculnr Tit. day meeting of the Rotary' club, and was also shown before student stu-dent groups at the Cedar City high school and at the Branch Agricultural college. |
