Show Iron County Tops 210 Quota at Bloodmobile Visit The first 100 pints of blood given at the recent visit of the Bloodmobile in Cedar City Friday, Fri-day, March 13, were shipped to Korea, as whole blood, to fill a quota to our American soldiers, it was announced by Whitney Jensen, chairman of the bloodmobile blood-mobile program. Within a 24-hour period the blood had been transported from Cedar City to Salt Lake City to California and was on its way, by air, over the Pacific ocean to Korea, it is understood. One of the most successful blood donation programs conducted con-ducted in Iron County saw the bloodmobile surpass its quota of 210 pints by 22 pints, bringing bring-ing in a total of 232 pints of blood. Deviating from past visits the mobile unit was run by local physicians as well as local assistants. as-sistants. Doctors L. V. Br"av'.bent. P. K. Edmunds and A. L. Graff all donated their time and experience ex-perience to conduct this blood drive in Iron county. Assisting in the complete operation op-eration of the Bloodmobile were the Beta Sigma Phi, Cedar City sorority, who conducted the canteen. can-teen. Mrs. Kumen Jones and a host of local personal, assisted the regular nurses and El F.s-calante F.s-calante hotel and manager Alex Angclo, who graciously donated space for the bloodmobile and offered facilities plus donating the coffee for the canteen. Arden Dairy, Southern Utah Coca-Cola Bottling Co., and the 7-up Bottling company are also to bo commended for their efforts ef-forts in this vital cause for donating do-nating milk, coke and 7-up respectively re-spectively for the canteen. Mr. Jensen stated that a gxxl share of the credit for the success suc-cess of the blood drive should be given to the area heads who conducted con-ducted a personal contact campaign cam-paign prior to the blood drive, they were Mrs. Sid Porter, Mrs. Bert Langfrd, Mrs. Max Woofl, Mrs. Sheldon Olds, Mrs. Paul Stokes, Mrs. Violet P.errett and I Mrs. Morgan Slack of Cedar City arr A C Ftateh nf I'arnwan A date for the return of the, mobile unit has not been an- j nounced as yet, according to Mr. Jensen, but it is exacted that the next visit will not be for approximately ap-proximately six month. A word of thanks to all who assisted in the drive was expressed ex-pressed by Mr. Jensen and the Iron County Red Cross for the whole-hearted cooperation of the people of this area. |
